What sets this desk apart

  • Technical screening before any CV reaches you
  • Remote, hybrid and relocation hiring
  • Contract and permanent

How we recruit

Technology hiring moves fast and is unforgiving of consultants who cannot tell a backend from a frontend. We recruit software engineers, data scientists and analysts, cloud and infrastructure engineers, cyber security specialists, product managers and IT leaders.

We work with product companies, consultancies and the technology functions of banks, insurers, pharma and retail. Much of this market is remote or hybrid, so we recruit across borders as readily as across the city.

Roles we recruit

  • Software Engineer (frontend, backend, full stack)
  • Data Engineer and Data Scientist
  • Data and BI Analyst
  • Cloud and DevOps Engineer
  • Cyber Security Analyst
  • Product Manager and Product Owner
  • QA and Test Engineer
  • IT Support and Systems Administrator
  • Engineering Manager
  • CTO and Head of Engineering

Where hiring gets stuck

Hiring in technology is hard. Here is where it sticks.

  1. 01

    More applicants, harder choices

The Employment and Recruitment Federation's Labour Market Monitor for Q2 2026 reported 35,000 jobs lost in high tech services in the year to Q1 2026, so adverts can draw far more applications. We screen on what people have built and shipped, and send a short list, not a long one.

  2. 02

    Narrow skills stay scarce

SOLAS still listed software developers and IT engineers as shortage occupations in its National Skills Bulletin 2025, and agencies it surveyed named cyber, AI and cloud engineers as hard to fill. We search directly for these people, including outside Dublin and outside Ireland.

  3. 03

    Office days shrink the pool

Each extra day on site rules out candidates, and in a September 2025 IrishJobs survey 71% of candidates said they would leave a job without flexible working. We tell you what your policy does to the candidate pool before the search starts, not after.

  4. 04

    Permits and visas

In CIPD Ireland's HR Practices in Ireland 2026 report, published in May 2026, 47% of organisations cited ongoing work permit and visa difficulties. We check permit eligibility for the role and the candidate before interview, so an offer is not made on a false assumption.

Open in the market

Technology roles employers are advertising now.

These roles are being advertised by employers in Ireland. FH Recruitment has not been instructed on them. If one suits you, tell us which. With your agreement we approach the employer on your behalf, and nothing is sent anywhere without your say so.

Questions

Technology hiring, answered.

Practical answers to the questions employers and candidates ask most.

Is it easier to hire software developers in Ireland in 2026?

For general roles, yes, and for specialist ones, not much. The Employment and Recruitment Federation's Irish Labour Market Monitor for Q2 2026 reported 35,000 jobs lost in high tech services in the year to Q1 2026, so more experienced people are available. Yet SOLAS still listed software developers and IT engineers as shortage occupations in its National Skills Bulletin of October 2025, and Indeed Hiring Lab found in January 2026 that about 11% of Irish job postings were AI related. Expect volume for generalists and a search for specialists.

What is the Critical Skills Employment Permit salary threshold for tech roles in Ireland?

From 1 March 2026 the minimum salary for a Critical Skills Employment Permit is €40,904 where the candidate holds a relevant degree and €68,911 where they do not, according to the Department of Enterprise. The occupation must also be one the Department treats as eligible. Thresholds change and are reviewed, so check the Department's current figures before relying on them, and take immigration advice for anything unusual. We check eligibility for the role and the candidate before you interview.

How many interview rounds should a tech hiring process have?

As few as let you decide with confidence. In an IrishJobs survey in spring 2026, recruiters named interviews that run too long (30%), unnecessary follow up rounds (26%), undefined processes (23%) and too many rounds (22%) as the main bottlenecks. A workable pattern is a short screening call, one technical assessment that reflects the real job and one final conversation with the team. We agree stages and feedback times with you before the search starts and tell you when the process itself is losing candidates.

I was made redundant from a tech company in Ireland. How do I find my next role?

Start with a CV that says what you built, in which stack and with what result, because hiring managers are reading more applications than before. Look beyond the largest employers to Irish software companies, scale ups and the technology teams inside banks, pharma and the public sector. Indeed Hiring Lab reported in January 2026 that job postings in Cork, Galway, Kildare and Limerick were above their level before the pandemic while Dublin was 12% below. We give direct feedback on your CV and never charge candidates a fee.
