How we recruit
Every organisation runs on its finance, people, legal and operations teams. We recruit the qualified accountants, HR professionals, legal counsel, office leaders and operations managers who keep companies compliant, profitable and pleasant to work in.
We work with multinationals, indigenous Irish businesses, professional practices and fast growing start ups. Our consultants are organised by discipline, so the person recruiting your financial controller spends their whole week talking to financial controllers.

Where hiring gets stuck
Hiring in business is hard. Here is where it sticks.
- 01
Qualified accountants are scarce
SOLAS noted in its National Skills Bulletin 2025 that employers found accountants hard to recruit, including newly and part qualified staff. We recruit by discipline, speak to every candidate before you see a CV and tell you where the market sits on salary and notice periods.
- 02
Hiring takes too long
IrishJobs put the median time to hire at 10 weeks in a September 2025 survey of HR professionals, and good candidates accept other offers in that time. We agree interview stages and feedback deadlines with you before the search starts and hold both sides to them.
- 03
Too many unsuitable applications
In an IrishJobs survey in spring 2026, 68% of recruiters said screening irrelevant applications was their biggest drain on time. We send a short list of people we have spoken to, each with a note on why they fit and where they fall short.
- 04
Salary ranges in adverts
Irish law on pay transparency was still being finalised at the time of writing, and candidates increasingly expect to see a range. We help you set a range you can stand over for each role and word the advert so it attracts the level you need.
Open in the market
Business roles employers are advertising now.
These roles are being advertised by employers in Ireland. FH Recruitment has not been instructed on them. If one suits you, tell us which. With your agreement we approach the employer on your behalf, and nothing is sent anywhere without your say so.
Questions
Business hiring, answered.
Practical answers to the questions employers and candidates ask most.
How long does it take to hire an accountant or financial controller in Ireland?
Longer than most employers plan for. IrishJobs reported a median time to hire of 10 weeks across all roles in a survey of 500 HR professionals carried out in September 2025, and a qualified accountant's notice period comes after that. The delays you can control are the brief, the number of interview rounds and the speed of feedback. We aim to send a first shortlist promptly and ask you to commit to feedback times, because the strongest candidates rarely wait.
Do we have to show the salary in job adverts in Ireland?
The position was still moving at the time of writing. The EU Pay Transparency Directive had a transposition deadline of 7 June 2026, and Ireland's draft law, as summarised by Mason Hayes & Curran in May 2025, would require a salary level or range in the advert and ban questions about pay history. In March 2026 A&L Goodbody described the Irish legislation as still in preparation, so check gov.ie or take legal advice. Our practical suggestion is to publish a range now, because it filters applications early.
Should we bring in an interim or contractor while we recruit a permanent hire?
Often it is the safer choice for a month end, an audit or a system change that cannot wait. Employers are moving this way: Ibec's HR Update of September 2025 forecast that permanent roles would fall from 95% to 89% of new hires in 2026. An interim protects deadlines and gives you time to hire well. Take professional advice on the right contract structure for your situation. We can run both searches together and plan the handover from the start.
Do I need to be fully qualified to get an accounting job in Ireland?
No. SOLAS reported in its National Skills Bulletin 2025 that employers found part qualified and newly qualified accountants difficult to recruit, alongside experienced financial, tax and cost accountants. Chartered Accountants Ireland said in January 2026 that skills in financial planning and analysis, analytics, Power BI, ERP systems and automation were attracting a premium. Be clear on your CV about exams passed, the study support you need and the systems you have used. We never charge candidates a fee.
