How we recruit
Healthcare recruitment is personal. The people we place look after other people, and the employers we work with carry responsibility for safe staffing every single shift. We take the time to understand registration, grading and rostering, and we know the difference between a ward that is covered and a ward that is well run.
We recruit for public and private hospitals, nursing homes, home care providers, mental health services, primary care and specialist clinics. We handle registration support with NMBI, CORU and the Medical Council for internationally trained professionals, and we stay with every placement through induction and beyond.
What employers get
Pre screened, registration ready candidates, honest timelines, and a consultant who will tell you when a role needs a different approach rather than sending the same CVs again.
What candidates get

Where hiring gets stuck
Hiring in healthcare is hard. Here is where it sticks.
- 01
Registration takes months
A nurse trained outside Ireland cannot practise here until NMBI has recognised the qualification and completed registration, and NMBI publishes no standard processing time. We ask where each candidate stands with NMBI, CORU or the Medical Council before you interview, so start dates are based on fact.
- 02
Permit thresholds keep rising
The Department of Enterprise set the minimum salary for a healthcare assistant employment permit at €32,691 from 1 March 2026, and thresholds change, so check before relying on any figure. We build offers around the current rules and tell you early when a review is due.
- 03
The 50:50 rule
Employment permit rules typically require at least half of your staff to be EEA nationals, a limit described in the BDO and Nursing Homes Ireland survey report of June 2026, and one the Government has said it will review. We plan around your current ratio, recruiting locally and across the EEA alongside permit hires.
- 04
New hires who leave
Bringing a nurse or carer to Ireland costs time and money, and housing, isolation or a better offer can undo it within months. We are straight with candidates about pay, rosters and location before they accept, help with the practical side of arriving and stay in touch after they start.
Open in the market
Healthcare roles employers are advertising now.
These roles are being advertised by employers in Ireland. FH Recruitment has not been instructed on them. If one suits you, tell us which. With your agreement we approach the employer on your behalf, and nothing is sent anywhere without your say so.
Questions
Healthcare hiring, answered.
Practical answers to the questions employers and candidates ask most.
How long does it take to hire a registered nurse from overseas into Ireland?
There is no fixed answer, and we would be wary of anyone who offers one. NMBI sets out two steps for a nurse who qualified outside Ireland, recognition of the qualification and then registration, and it publishes no standard processing time. An employment permit and visa may also be needed, and those are decided by the State. We plan in months, not weeks, check each candidate's stage before you interview and give you a written timeline that we update as each step clears.
What is the minimum salary for an employment permit for a nurse or healthcare assistant in Ireland?
From 1 March 2026 the Critical Skills Employment Permit minimum salary is €40,904 for degree level roles such as nursing, and the minimum for healthcare assistants, home carers and care workers is €32,691, according to the Department of Enterprise. Some employers on public sector pay scales are treated differently. Thresholds change and further increases are planned, so check the Department's current figures before you make an offer. We confirm which threshold applies to each role before a campaign starts.
How do we know an agency recruits overseas healthcare staff ethically?
Ask for three things in writing: that candidates pay no fees, which countries the agency recruits from, and how it follows the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel. The risk is real. In a Migrant Rights Centre Ireland survey of 1,019 permit holders that closed in February 2026, 31% of healthcare assistants said they had paid a recruitment fee. We never charge candidates, and we put that in writing to you and to them.
Do I need NMBI or CORU registration before I apply for a healthcare job in Ireland?
You typically need registration before you can practise, though you can talk to us before it is complete. Nurses and midwives register with NMBI and doctors with the Medical Council, while professions such as physiotherapy, radiography and medical science are regulated by CORU. Neither NMBI nor CORU publishes a standard processing time for qualifications gained abroad, so apply early and keep copies of everything. We tell you honestly which roles you can apply for at each stage, and we never charge candidates a fee.
