How we recruit in pharmacy
Pharmacy is a small world in Ireland, and it is one we know from the inside. A dispensary only works when the pharmacist, the technicians and the counter team work well together, so we ask about the things that decide whether a job suits: opening hours, script volumes, the dispensary system, the support on the bench and how the rota really runs.
We recruit for independent pharmacies, groups and chains, hospital pharmacy departments and pharmacy support offices, in permanent, part time and locum roles.
What employers get
Candidates whose PSI registration and experience we have checked before you meet them, and a straight answer about what the role needs to pay to be filled.
What candidates get
The facts before you decide: hours, weekends, staffing on the bench, the dispensary system and the salary. Your CV goes nowhere without your say so.

Where hiring in pharmacy gets stuck
Supervising pharmacists are scarce by law as well as by number
Under the Pharmacy Act 2007 a supervising pharmacist needs at least three years' experience after registration and can hold the post in one pharmacy only. We check registration date and current commitments before we put anyone forward.
Cover at short notice
Holidays, sick leave and weekends leave gaps that are hard to fill outside the cities. Tell us the dates and the dispensary system you use, and we will tell you honestly who is available and at what rate.
The team around the pharmacist
A good pharmacist leaves a dispensary that is short on technicians and counter staff. We recruit technicians, dispensary assistants and OTC staff as well, so the bench is covered.
Offers that do not match the market
Pharmacist pay varies widely by location, hours and responsibility. We tell you what comparable roles are paying before the advert goes out, so the offer is not refused at the last step.
Pharmacy hiring: common questions
Practical answers to the questions employers and candidates ask most.
Do I need to be registered with the PSI to work as a pharmacist in Ireland?
Yes. Pharmacists must be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, the pharmacy regulator, before they can practise. If you qualified outside Ireland, the PSI must recognise your qualification first, and the route depends on where you trained. It takes time, so start early and tell us where your application stands.
What experience does a supervising pharmacist need?
At least three years' experience after registration, under the Pharmacy Act 2007. A supervising pharmacist can hold that post in one pharmacy only. The same three year rule applies to a superintendent pharmacist.
Do you recruit pharmaceutical technicians and counter staff?
Yes. We recruit qualified pharmaceutical technicians, dispensary assistants and OTC and healthcare assistants alongside pharmacists and pharmacy managers.
Do you cover locum and part time work?
Yes, alongside permanent roles. Tell us the dates or the days you want, where you can travel to and the dispensary systems you know.
Will my current employer find out I am looking?
No. Pharmacy in Ireland is a small world, so we name the employer and the role to you first and send nothing without your say so.
